We don't want your data.

The short version

PRESS is a one-time-purchase iOS app that runs entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not have a backend server for user data, and does not include any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Your scores, players, courses, and settings never leave your phone.

The only time any data leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to share it — for example, by taking a screenshot, using iOS's native share sheet on a settlement summary, or sending us an email.

What the app stores on your device

  • Games. Player names, handicaps, scores, and the game mode you selected, stored locally in Application Support.
  • Saved players & courses. Names, handicaps, par values, and stroke indexes you choose to save for reuse.
  • Preferences. Currency symbol and auto-advance settings, stored via @AppStorage.
  • Onboarding state.Whether you've seen the first-launch intro (a single boolean).

Deleting the app removes all of this data. There is no cloud copy to wipe because there is no cloud.

Camera access (scorecard scanner)

PRESS can scan a printed scorecard to auto-fill par and stroke indexes. When you tap Scan Scorecard, iOS asks for camera permission. The capture is handled by Apple's built-in document scanner and the recognition by Apple's Vision framework — both on-device. The scanned image is never uploaded, never stored outside the scanner session, and never seen by us.

Live Activities, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch

These surfaces display your current game. Data flows directly between the PRESS app and the system widgets/Watch via Apple's on-device frameworks (ActivityKit, WatchConnectivity). No third parties are involved.

Analytics, ads, and tracking

None. PRESS contains no Facebook SDK, no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no advertising network, no crash-reporting SDK that transmits data, no attribution SDK. The app is functionally air-gapped.

This website

The PRESS landing page ( presscaddy.com) is a static marketing site. It does not set tracking cookies. The only personal data it collects is the email address you voluntarily submit to the TestFlight waitlist form.

Submitted emails are stored with our email provider (e.g. Buttondown) solely to send one launch notification and any follow-up messages you opt into. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send. We do not sell or share the list with anyone.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which may maintain standard server-access logs (IP, user agent, URL) for security and performance purposes. Those logs are not used for advertising and are retained per Vercel's own policy.

Your rights

Because we don't hold an account for you, there is nothing for us to export or delete when you stop using the app — just delete the app. For the email waitlist, email us and we'll remove you immediately.

Children

PRESS is rated 12+ due to simulated gambling references. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and post the diff in our release notes. Material changes will be announced to the email list.
